Corporate Social Responsibility

The construction and operation of the proposed hydroelectric project will produce both direct
and indirect (induced) environmental impacts. Accordingly, the project impact areas are broadly defined as
Direct Impact Areas and Indirect Impact Zones. The following steps have been taken by the M/s Numbur
Himalaya Hydropower Limited to minimize the impact on the environment:
  • Financial contribution and construction materials support for the construction of Temple (Kul Puja) at Gorunda, Umakunda RMP, Ramechhap.
  • Financial support and supply of construction materials to build Gumba Near Bhandar.
  • Road Improvement and site clearance of different roads of Umakunda and Likhupike Rural municipality of Solukhumbu and Ramechhap district.
  • Assistance to the Rural Road Development (Including Access Road) and new road track opening in the affected areas of the project.
  • Rural Electrification for the affected VDCs.
  • Skill Development and Local Employment.
  • Health Care Facilities.
  • Assistance in the Water Supply for affected VDCs.

Environmental Impact

M/s Numbur Himalaya Hydropower Limited has spent more than NPR 5 crores (0.38 Mi USD) on CSR practices in the following manner: –
  • Compensation plantation was carried out for the trees cut in the project area.
    • For every tree cut down during the construction process, 10 to 20 tress per tree are planted. This is higher than the environmental standard followed across the country.
  • Slope stabilization was carried out in the headworks area.
  • River protection was carried out for Koreshi Khola.
  • Structural Design was carried out considering the input during the public hearing for the EIA.
  • A fish Ladder was constructed for the safe passage of the migratory fish species.
